Introducing the Multiplayer AI Manifesto
The Full Stack began as Full Stack Deep Learning: a place to learn how to turn models into useful products. As agents take on more of that work, we need to share tools and best practices about working with them most effectively.
I wrote the Multiplayer AI Manifesto to describe what that collaboration should look like. It grew out of building Superconductor, a multiplayer AI platform, and talking with teams adopting AI across their companies.
What is multiplayer AI?
Multiplayer AI means teammates can participate in the same agent session, with shared context and access to the tools where work happens. Instead of forwarding an answer and explaining the task again, the next person can join the conversation and continue the work.
Consider a feature built with a coding agent. During review, a teammate should be able to ask that same agent why it made a decision. A product manager should be able to join with a requirement. The reasoning behind the change should remain available after it ships.
The same idea applies beyond software: to a customer proposal, a financial plan, or a marketing campaign.
Five principles
The manifesto proposes five principles:
- Never copy-and-paste. Bring agents into the tools and conversations where the team already works.
- Work with the door open. Let teammates learn from each other's agent sessions.
- Continuously improve. Turn feedback into reusable skills and evaluate recurring workflows.
- People are not routers. Let agents find context and relay routine updates.
- Nothing starts from scratch. Preserve sessions so work can resume long after the original conversation.
These are goals to build toward. No platform meets the entire manifesto today.
Building toward multiplayer AI
Sharing an agent also raises questions about permissions, privacy, and accountability. The manifesto discusses cloud environments, network restrictions, governance, and ownership of the knowledge a team accumulates.
